I was inspired by the sculptural form of this dress. The skirt has no physical relationship to the wearer other than to adorn and has an independent personality all of its own, functioning like a portable work of art.
I decided to explore this dress in relation to contemporary life and my thoughts turned to the idea of weddings - hence the moving bell and it's likeness to a metronome - and a fear of being left on the shelf!
